ABOUT THE ARTIST

"...what facinates us most about the works of Eric Forstmann is that they offer us a look at a level of skill in the handling of paint that for the most part has been missing from representational American painting for a very long time."--excerpt from the essay "Trompe L'oeil and Beyond" by Louis A. Zona, Director of the Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio.

"I am neither quite able nor willing to leave behind the experience of these important and confident paintings that bring American traditions squarely into the 21st century, that offer a sort of solace in the midst of our cultural ambiguities and uncertainties."--excerpt from an essay by Barbara O'Brien, Chief Curator of Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art

DIFFA'S DINING BY DESIGN

For DIFFA'S DINING BY DESIGN table viewing--a charity event that raises money for Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS--at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show in New York City, Liebherr partnered with renowned designer Libby Langdon. “We’re thrilled to welcome Libby Langdon to the Liebherr family,” said Thorsten Platt, Vice President of Liebherr Refrigeration North America. “Libby’s engaging personality and expertise in innovative design trends brings a fresh perspective to Liebherr. She offers wonderful solutions for our consumers who are looking for smart kitchen design ideas.”

One of the dozen or so top designers that created a table installation, Langdon used her creativity to come up with a table based around the theme of creating the perfect climate. The details of Liebherr's wine storage units inspired her table design for DINING BY DESIGN. The untreated wood shelves of the Liebherr units are represented by the wood pergola structure. The soft lighting inside the Liebherr wine refrigerator is echoed in the subtle lighting scheme created for the dinner, lighting up the waterfall, chandeliers over the table, and illuminating the sheer panels along the sides of the room. Plus, Liebherr knows how important the proper humidity is to storing wine; this was the inspiration for adding waterfalls to the dining environment as well as the fact that peace and quiet is a hallmark of the Liebherr refrigeration.
